Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with most dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique usually involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
