Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with many dental restorations, veneers might someday require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique typically involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique usually involves two appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
