Same Day Crowns

Same day crown technology plays an important function in our practice. This amazing development in chair side dentistry gives us the tools to develop, produce, and position crowns, inlays and onlays in a single visit.

The Same Day Crown Difference

The traditional technique to a crown or inlay and onlay frequently needed a return visit after the client waited (with a short-term restoration in the tooth) for about 2 weeks while the restoration was made in a separate lab. Same day crown CAD/CAM technology removes the wait!

How Do Same Day Crowns Work?

Same day crowns utilize a special camera to take an accurate image of the broken tooth. This optical impression is moved and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD (computer-aided design) software to develop the restoration.

Then CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) takes over and automatically mills the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the new restoration is bonded in place.

The entire process takes about one hour, and there are no frustrating temporaries or 2nd visit needed!

Proven Technology

With 20 years of medical research and more than 20 million restorations carried out worldwide, same day crowns have proven to be a an reliable, safe and hassle-free innovation that we are delighted to provide to our clients.

Today's Conversation Is About:

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that covers the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original sizes and shape. A crown protects and reinforces the tooth structure giving the tooth a longer life span than it would have if brought back by fillings or other kinds of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is likely to break, or is too broken down to be recovered with a filling. They are most frequently done after root canal treatments, or when a large filling wears out. The bigger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be required. Even after a filling is put in a big cavity, a tooth is more likely to break. Bear in mind that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the body. Teeth undergo incredible pressures. Crowns sit over the weakened tooth, offering strength and protecting the tooth against breakage. A broken or cracked tooth is a much more severe matter and a lot more difficult to treat. Crowns prevent this, along with making for a nice smile.

It takes two appointments to recover a tooth with a crown. In the very first appointment any decay is eliminated from the tooth and it is formed to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in fabricating a crown. In between the two visits the crown is made, typically of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic product, or gold. A temporary crown is used throughout this time. In the 2nd visit this short-term crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed and after that cemented in place.

Exactly What Does Getting A Crown Include?

A crown treatment generally requires two visits. Your first visit will include taking impressions that will be utilized to produce your custom-made crown. A mold will also be used to develop a short-term crown which will remain on your tooth for roughly two weeks till your brand-new crown is made by a dental laboratory.

While the tooth is numb, the dental practitioner will prepare the tooth by eliminating any decay and forming the surface area to appropriately fit the crown. When these details are accomplished, your temporary crown will be put with short-term cement and your bite will be checked to ensure you are biting appropriately.

At your 2nd appointment your temporary crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown will be thoroughly positioned to guarantee the spacing and bite are precise.

You will be given care directions and encouraged to have regular dental check ups to inspect your crown. As always, proper oral hygiene will help extend the life of your new crown.
