At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may be asking, what are same day crowns and what can it do for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one appointment. We have actually now been using this innovation for multiple years and like it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that permits us to replace damaged or missing tooth structures with a ceramic material that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you are in the practice, in just one visit. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look like natural teeth can be made and placed in a single appointment, normally in about an hour.

So what is the treatment?

We scan the opposite teeth and the method the teeth bite together first. We remove the old filling, and degeneration and any thin weak tooth product and scan the readied tooth.

After this we stop working in the mouth and start working with the computer.

Everyone enjoys seeing the pictures of their teeth and the developing of their new tooth. We make 3D design and this info is sent out to the milling system.

Everyone asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth isn't built up layer by layer, it is cut back from a block in the machine, which is much more durable.

The block is then precisely sculpted to produce your new restoration, which is fantastic.

At last, the customized crown restoration bonded effortlessly into the tooth, reinforcing and sealing it at the same time then we tidy up!

We have to make certain that you can bite correctly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

The Topic For Today Is:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling due to the fact that brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can result in tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two types of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists provide both types of fillings, however find that many of their patients prefer the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings provide good durability and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that have to withstand moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this may result in a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively attached, to the tooth, commonly enabling a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the entire filling process and they are subject to stain and staining in time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend considerably on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also typically used to fix front teeth that have actually cracked or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is normally much cheaper than veneers or crowns. However, bonding typically does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
