Why Do They Call Them Same Day Crowns?

This state-of-the-art technology allows your dental practitioner to take precise images of your tooth and use those images to design, manufacture, and position a porcelain or zirconia crown in a single appointment. Same day crowns offer exceptional convenience, value, and accuracy to our patients.

How Does The Same Day Crown Technology Work?

The same day crown procedure includes three basic steps. First, your dentist uses 3D imaging to take highly accurate pictures of your tooth and the surrounding structures. Next, he downloads these images into a computer and, using computer-assisted design software, develops your custom-fitted crown. From there, your dental practitioner will send out the design to their in-office precision milling machine which produces the crown out of a block of dental porcelain or zirconia. Once they stain and glaze the crown for additional strength and esthetics, your dentist will put it on your tooth.

Exactly What Are The Benefits Of Same Day Crowns?

We only use dental porcelain and zirconia to develop our same day crowns. These metal-free restorations offer incomparable strength, sturdiness, chip and stain resistance, and natural appeal.

Precision-fitted same day crowns require less tooth prep work and protect more of your tooth structure.

Standard crowns require two office visits. With same day crowns, you can come to our dentist's office for a visit and leave with a beautifully fixed tooth.

You can avoid the inconvenience and possible threats associated with ill-fitting short-term crowns.

Today's Topic Is:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a filling due to the fact that brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can result in tooth discomfort and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists supply both types of fillings, however find that a number of their clients choose the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings supply great sturdiness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to hold up against moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this may lead to a smaller filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, typically allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry during the whole filling process and they undergo stain and discoloration in time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend greatly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also typically used to repair front teeth that have cracked or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is normally much more economical than veneers or crowns. However, bonding generally does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
