Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
