Why Do They Call Them Same Day Crowns?

This state-of-the-art technology permits your dental practitioner to take precise images of your tooth and use those images to design, manufacture, and put a porcelain or zirconia crown in a single appointment. Same day crowns provide unparalleled benefits, value, and accuracy to our patients.

How Does The Same Day Crown Technology Work?

The same day crown process consists of 3 fundamental steps. 1st, your dental practitioner uses 3D imaging to take extremely accurate pictures of your tooth and the surrounding structures. Second, she downloads these images into a computer and, using computer-assisted design software, develops your custom-fitted crown. From there, your dentist will send the design to their in-office precision milling device which develops the crown from a block of dental porcelain or zirconia. Once they stain and glaze the crown for added strength and esthetics, your dental practitioner will position it on your tooth.

What Are The Benefits Of Same Day Crowns?

We only use dental porcelain and zirconia to create our same day crowns. These metal-free restorations provide unparalleled strength, sturdiness, chip and stain resistance, and natural appeal.

Precision-fitted same day crowns need less tooth prep work and preserve more of your tooth structure.

Traditional crowns require two office visits. With same day crowns, you can come into our dentist's office for a visit and leave with a perfectly restored tooth.

You can avoid the trouble and potential risks associated with uncomfortable short-term crowns.

Today's Conversation Is About:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
