Today We Will Be Reviewing:

Porcelain Teeth Veneers

Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and appealing smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

As with many dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last years, offering you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.

How Are Veneers Set?

Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct strategy typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is generally referred to as bonding.

The indirect strategy normally involves two appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.

The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
