There are various types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.
The entire mouth is examined and a decision is made about which teeth will need to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular performance and appearance return and one simply carries on as usual. Typically implants can be used to further support the dentures.
It is important to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the type of food you have the ability to eat, your confidence in social circumstances, as well as your self-confidence.
A Couple Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the same arch
- Restore chewing capability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other treatments
An upper full denture will usually feel better than a lower full denture. In order to considerably enhance the fit of a lower full denture, we regularly recommend utilizing dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants placed in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and substantially enhance comfort. Sometimes, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has been in use for a number of years.
