Today We Will Be Talking About:

Dental Dentures

There are various kinds of dentures, however they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.

The whole mouth is analyzed and a decision is made about which teeth will need to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending upon the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are put in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal performance and look return and one simply carries on as usual. Frequently implants can be used to further stabilize the dentures.

It is very important to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a significant lifestyle change when compared with natural teeth. Dentures impact the type of food you have the ability to eat, your self-confidence in social circumstances, as well as your self-esteem.

A Few Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:

  • All Teeth missing in the same arch

  • Restore chewing ability

  • Restore a natural looking smile

  • Economical alternative to other procedures

An upper complete denture will usually feel better than a lower complete denture. In order to dramatically enhance the fit of a lower complete denture, we often recommend using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants put in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and significantly improve comfort. Sometimes, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has actually been in use for a number of years.
