The Discussion For Today Is:

Porcelain Teeth Veneers

Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and appealing smile.

Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers may one day need replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, lovely smile.

How Are Veneers Set?

Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.

The indirect method generally involves two appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.

You will get care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
