At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may be asking, exactly what are same day crowns and exactly what can it provide for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one visit. We have actually now been using this innovation for many years and love it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that permits us to change broken or missing tooth structures with a ceramic material that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you are in the practice, in just one appointment. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that feel and look like natural teeth can be made and fitted in a single appointment, typically in about an hour.

So what is the treatment?

We scan the opposite teeth and the way the teeth bite together first. We remove the old filling, and decay and any thin weak tooth material and scan the prepared tooth.

After this we stop working in the mouth and start working on the computer.

Everyone likes seeing the pictures of their teeth and the designing of their brand-new tooth. We make 3D design and this information is sent out to the milling device.

Everybody asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth is not built up layer by layer, it is cut from a block in the machine, which is much stronger.

The block is then precisely carved to produce your brand-new restoration, which is wonderful.

Finally, the custom made crown restoration bonded effortlessly into the tooth, strengthening and sealing it at the same time then we tidy up!

We need to make certain that you can bite correctly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital images of locations needing restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in just one visit. We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to produce your crown.

CEREC can be used in a broad scope of indications: onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers and inlays.

Today's Subject Will Be:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is necessary when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and detect issues early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also cause the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal treatment. When this occurs, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it has to be treated, and can not recover by itself. It can even damage the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and might be extremely agonizing. Signs that the pulp has become infected might consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, pain, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no signs appear and the person is unaware of any issue up until a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. Once the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is recommended for recovering a tooth that has actually had root canal treatment.
