Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like a lot of dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy generally involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
