Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with most dental restorations, veneers may one day need replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last years, offering you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique usually involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
