If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing discomfort when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or want to get rid of unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a good option for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface of the affected tooth, adding toughness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are an option that we provide on a case by case basis to patients who would gain from the treatment. They allow patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This eliminates the need to have a short-term crown placed then another visit set up for the positioning of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new technology that scans the mouth to obtain the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are extremely strong and durable and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. In many cases, a gold crown might be advised for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clinch your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may vary between the two and you may want to discuss your budget too with the your dentist. Your dentist will discuss with you the kinds of crowns available and offer you a recommendation based upon your certain circumstance.

Call us to arrange a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a severely damaged joint.
