The Topic For Today Will Be:

Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)

Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last years, giving you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.

How Are Veneers Applied?

Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is generally referred to as bonding.

The indirect technique generally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.

You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
