At our practice we are proud to have expert and highly-trained dentists on staff. At our dental practice we incorporate advanced technology and procedures to provide our patients with the very best restorative, precautionary, implant, and cosmetic dentistry care. For patients who have to get dental crowns, we are extremely pleased to be able to offer same day crowns.

Crowns and caps are 2 various names for the same thing. A dental crown is a restoration that is usually made of porcelain. It is a strong structure that is used to cover a tooth on all four sides to help strengthen the tooth and enhance its function.

Crowns can also be used to connect bridges, as the top part of a dental implant, or to prevent a broken tooth from becoming weaker. Crowns can also be used to reinforce a tooth after a root canal procedure.

Crowns are also used for purely aesthetic reasons, such as to cover a severely discolored tooth that has to be restored to its initial, appealing look.

Generally getting a dental crown is a prolonged procedure. The dentist will have to take impressions, offer you with a temporary crown, wait for the crown to be returned from a lab, then have you return to the office so that it can be permanently connected. Today at our practice patients can get same day crowns in about two hours.

Our same day crowns are produced in our office thanks to our CAD-CAM technology.

CAD-CAM stands for "computer-aided-design-computer-aided-manufacture." Computers are used to take photos which are then computer-analyzed and used to produce a crown.

This crown is actually milled by a computer in our office. The crown will fit your mouth precisely and eliminate any need to send impressions or photos to an outside laboratory.

All this is done while you wait, removing the need to return for a second appointment.

You also will not need to get a crown, given that our long-term crown will be instantly offered to you.

If you wish to consult with our dentist to get more information about same day crowns or to get a same day crown, call our practice.

Today's Subject Is:

Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)

Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Similar to many dental restorations, veneers may at some point require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last years, giving you a long lasting, lovely smile.

How Are Veneers Set?

Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct method generally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is normally referred to as bonding.

The indirect technique typically involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.

The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
