What Are Single Visit Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new innovation that a dental expert can economically bring back damaged teeth in a single visit using a top quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a special camera to take an precise picture of the broken tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD technology to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and immediately creates the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Innovation Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional 2nd appointment has actually been removed. This brand-new technology has over 10 years of scientific research and documents to support it. The restorations have actually been proven precise, safe and reliable.

A lovely smile is among your biggest possessions - a reflection of happiness and good health.

Thanks to recent developments in dentistry, getting the smile you constantly imagined is much easier - and faster than ever.

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If untreated and taken to extremes, surgery might be required to fix a badly damaged joint.
