Some Advantages Of Getting A Same Day Crown

Crowns are a very common dental procedure that is often needed when someone's tooth is broken or if the tooth has degraded to the point where a filling will not work.

Common crowns are fairly bothersome to obtain, but there is an alternative. Same-day crowns are a great option since they are more convenient and result in less discomfort:

A Lot Less Painful

A standard crown can result in pain for a few factors, however among the biggest sources of discomfort and pain is an outcome of having to get a short-term crown.

A short-term crown is used as a placeholder to safeguard your exposed tooth till your permanent crown can be delivered to your dentist. This can take anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

The problem with a short-term crown is that they are not very strong, which means that they can break or come loose extremely quickly.

A damaged or loose temporary crown will expose your tooth to liquids and food, both which can trigger a fair bit of pain if they reach the exposed nerves underneath the temporary crown.

Another source of pain originates from a loose crown rubbing along your gums. This rubbing can get to the point where it can get rather agonizing and start to bleed, which also opens the path for potential infections.

Fortunately, a same-day crown will supply you with a long-term crown at the end of your first visit to the dentist.

This gets rid of the need for a temporary crown, hence enabling you to avoid all the pain and discomfort.

Makes Sense

A standard crown is not a very practical procedure to have carried out, mainly since it normally takes at least two visits to finish.

If your short-term crown is broken or falls off, which is common, you will need to make another visit to have it changed. This can be a huge problem if you have a hectic schedule on your hands, or if you have a job that discourages requiring time off in the middle of a busy work day.

However, a same-day crown can be finished in a single day, with a single visit. This is enabled due to the fact that many dentists will buy the equipment to make their own crowns, instead of needing to purchase crowns from a dental lab.

This lets you prevent the inconvenience of needing to possibly spend weeks and multiple visits to your dental practitioner before the treatment is over and finished with.

Talk to your dentist and ask about the benefits offered by a same-day crown. A same-day crown can provide you with a hassle-free and reasonably pain-free alternative to a standard crown.

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery might be required to repair a terribly damaged joint.
