Same day crowns are an innovative dental technology that is utilized for the restoration of decayed, cracked, or chipped teeth. This technology can produce complete crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers. The same day crown device crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

Same day crown restorations are made of compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are more durable than lab restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most beneficial feature of getting a same day crown restoration is that it is achieved in one visit. In addition to the benefit of a one visit restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression material to bite on or a temporary crown to wear.

The treatment for positioning of a same day crown restoration is really simple. The first step is to eliminate all degeneration from the tooth. The dentist will then form the tooth in preparation to take a digital image. The tooth is then sprayed with a very fine powder. This permits the digital camera to take an appropriate image. When this image is captured, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will enable the dental practitioner to create the restoration right in front of you.

As soon as the design is finished, the same day crown device will mill the restoration. This step takes approximately 15 minutes. You can actually see this procedure if you would like. When the restoration is completed milling, the dentist will position the restoration on your tooth.

Today Were Discussing:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling since new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can result in tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two types of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists supply both kinds of fillings, but find that a number of their patients prefer the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings supply excellent toughness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to hold up against moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this may lead to a smaller filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively attached, to the tooth, often enabling a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the whole filling process and they are subject to stain and staining with time. The life span of a white filling can depend considerably on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently utilized to repair front teeth that have actually chipped or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is normally much cheaper than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
