Single Visit Crowns And Teeth Restorations

Do you need to get a dental crown? Or will you quickly be requiring a dental procedure that will cause you to require a dental crown? If so, you might be starting to fear the time you will have to invest at the dentist's office. At our dental practice, we offer a excellent time-saving solution for you. We offer same day crowns at our practice!

At our practice we are proud to have expert and highly-trained dentists on staff. At our dental practice we integrate state-of-the-art innovations and procedures to supply our clients with the very best restorative, preventive, implant, and cosmetic dentistry care. For patients who have to get dental crowns, we are very delighted to be able to offer same day crowns.

Crowns and caps are 2 different names for the same thing. A dental crown is a restoration that is normally made of porcelain. It is a strong structure that is used to cover a tooth on all 4 sides to help reinforce the tooth and enhance its function.

Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, as the top portion of a dental implant, or to prevent a damaged tooth from ending up being weaker. Crowns can also be used to enhance a tooth after a root canal treatment.

Crowns are also used for purely visual reasons, such as to cover a severely stained tooth that has to be restored to its initial, attractive look.

Generally getting a dental crown is a lengthy procedure. The dental practitioner will need to take impressions, supply you with a short-term crown, wait for the crown to be returned from a laboratory, and after that have you return to the office so that it can be permanently attached. Today at our practice clients can get same day crowns in about 2 hours.

Our same day crowns are developed in our practice thanks to our CAD-CAM technology.

CAD-CAM means "computer-aided-design-computer-aided-manufacture." Computers are used to take pictures which are then computer-analyzed and used to develop a crown.

This crown is actually milled by a computer in our office. The crown will fit your mouth exactly and get rid of any need to send impressions or pictures to an outside lab.

All this is done while you wait, removing the need to come back for a second visit.

You also will not have to get a short-term crown, given that our permanent crown will be instantly offered to you.

If you would like to meet with our dental practitioner to get more information about same day crowns or to get a same day crown, call our office.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital imagery of areas requiring restoration and produce the suitable restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to produce your crown.

Today We Will Be Discussing:

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If neglected and taken to extremes, surgery might be needed to fix a badly damaged joint.
