What Are Single Visit Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new technology that a dental professional can economically restore broken teeth in a single visit using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an accurate photo of the broken tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD technology to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically develops the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Innovation Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional 2nd visit has actually been eliminated. This new technology has over 10 years of clinical research and documents to support it. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and efficient.

Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)

Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and appealing smile.

Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Similar to a lot of dental restorations, veneers may at some point require replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.

How Are Veneers Set?

Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.

The indirect method usually involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
