Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like a lot of dental restorations, veneers might at some point need replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy generally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method generally involves two appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and beautiful veneers.
