Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to most dental restorations, veneers may at some point need replacement; however, they are still very long lasting and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy typically involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
