Three Reasons To Ask About Same Day Crowns

If you've ever had a crown put over one of your teeth in the past, you know that the process typically includes a minimum of two visits to the dental practitioner and the placement of a temporary crown before you getting your permanent one.

However, there is a new procedure for installing crowns that can permit you to obtain a permanent crown the same day. As the name suggests, same day crown machines permits crowns to be produced right there next to the dental practitioner's chair.

Have a look at a few reasons why same day crowns may be right for you.

Better Looking Teeth

Same day crowns are made entirely of ceramic, getting rid of the requirement for metal. While metal crowns are completely practical and safe, they're frequently thought as less attractive than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an aesthetically preferable choice, especially for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown devices can match the crown precisely to the shade of your natural teeth.

Less Wasted Time And Money

Every hour you spend at the dentist's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or obligation.

Having to go back to the dentist's office several times for one treatment might mean getting time off at work authorized for more than one day, getting a sitter for more than one day, or filling your vehicle with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a brief time-span.

However you look at it, several dental visits cost you money, in addition to exactly what you're spending on the dental procedure. Getting everything done in one appointment conserves time, and time is money.

Saves More Natural Teeth

The machine used in the same day crown treatment takes a digital scan of your tooth and after that is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the precise requirements supplied by the digital scan.

This allows the dental practitioner to preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest option for your jaw.

This also allows the dentist to use the machine to create inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you require more coverage than a filling will offer but less than a full crown.

Thanks to the more accurate digital measurements provided by the same day crown machine, teeth that might once have actually required a complete crown may now be candidates for just a partial crown.

If you think that one of your cracked teeth will most likely require a crown, be sure to make a visit with our dental practitioners today.

Today's Conversation Has To Do With:

Composite Dental Bonding

Bonding is a treatment where we apply a tooth-colored composite product to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be used in specific situations where a tooth has actually been damaged or ended up being stained. These are generally minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this fairly inexpensive means instead of through a more expensive dental treatment.

How It Works:
Bonding involves adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to modify the alignment of the tooth, close spaces between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface area, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material sticks to the surface. Then the material itself is placed on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is formed and polished to get a shiny finish as a last step.
