Same Day Crowns - A Smart Technology

We strive to stay current with the multitude of technological advances that are happening in dentistry. We are proud to have the same day crown technology in our office. It permits us to produce crowns and bigger restorations in our office. Same day crowns use the most innovative dental innovation, consisting of 3D video imaging and CAD/CAM innovation. In layman's terms, it is a computer-designed restoration for your tooth. The entire procedure takes between 1-2 hours and can be finished in one sitting.

Usually, a crown in the past would have needed 2 appointments. The very first appointment consists of preparing the tooth, taking the mold, and fitting a short-term crown. During the second visit, the temporary crown is replaced with the permanent one. With a same day crown, the whole procedure can be finished in just one appointment. We will use video imaging innovation to tke a picture of the tooth and use CAD/CAM technology to design the crown. This 3D design is wirelessly sent to a milling machine that carves the restoration out of a vacuum formed ceramic block. We will then adhere the new crown to your tooth. This removes the need to wear a temporary as well as a second appointment.

Restorative dentistry procedures can be essential to the overall health of your teeth and mouth. Please call our office and request a consultation.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital images of areas needing restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in just one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used in a wide scope of indications: inlays, onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns and veneers.

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If untreated and taken to extremes, surgery might be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
