What Are Single Visit Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new technology that a dentist can financially bring back broken teeth in a single visit using a high-quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dentist uses a unique camera to take an precise picture of the broken tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and shown on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to develop the restoration. Then CAM takes over and immediately produces the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Innovation Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer have to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the standard 2nd appointment has actually been removed. This new innovation has over a decade of scientific research and documentation to support it. The restorations have actually been proven precise, safe and efficient.

Today's Subject Will Be:

Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)

Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.

Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Just like a lot of dental restorations, veneers might someday require replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.

How Are Veneers Placed?

Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct method normally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is generally referred to as bonding.

The indirect method normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.

You will get care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
