Two Reasons To Speak To Your Dentist Concerning Same Day Crowns

Same day crowns are a excellent choice that makes getting a crown much more convenient and less time-consuming. These crowns operate in similar way as traditional crowns, other than that same-day crowns are made in the dentist's office while you are waiting, rather than being bought from a dental laboratory like standard crowns.

Here are 2 reasons to speak with your dental practitioner about the possibility of getting a same day crown:

Far more Convenient

Convenience is going to be the best reason that many people choose to opt for a same-day crown.

In the past, getting a crown would mean that you would need to pay numerous appointments to your dental practitioner before the crown was in position, with one appointment devoted to preparing your tooth and another visit to put the long-term crown over your tooth.

While that may not appear like it is too time-consuming, it can often be tough to require time off from your job or family numerous times in the space of a week or 2 in order to see your dentist during normal business hours.

Because the same-day crown is produced in-house by your dentist, you will have the final crown fitted over the tooth before you leave from your one required crown visit.

This is useful due to the fact that you won't need to stress over irritating your employer, having your co-workers cover for you, or missing out on pay since you needed to leave in the middle of the work day multiple times to go to the dentist.

A Lot More Comfortable

Another reason to ask your dentist for a same-day crown is comfort. Same day crowns are more comfortable because you will not need to invest a week or more having a short-term crown while awaiting your long-term crown.

A short-term crown can often provide quite a bit of irritation and discomfort due to the fact that it can typically become loose quickly.

When a temporary crown is loose, it can permit liquids to get under it and touch nerves in the exposed roots of your tooth. The loose fit can also cause the short-term crown to move along your gum and cause the skin to become scratched and inflamed.

While you typically do not need to wear a temporary crown for long, a same-day crown can enable you to prevent any issues associated with the temporary crown completely.

This type of crown is going to be both a lot more comfortable and a lot more convenient to obtain than a standard crown.

Today's Subject Will Be:

Dental Bonding (Composite)

Bonding is a procedure where we use a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to harden, and polish it. It can be utilized in specific circumstances where a tooth has been broken or become stained. These are generally minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this relatively inexpensive means rather than through a more pricey dental treatment.

Here's How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to fix damage done to the tooth by decay, to change the positioning of the tooth, close gaps between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface of the tooth is roughed up in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface area, and a primer/bond agent is used so the material adheres to the surface. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is formed and polished to obtain a glossy finish as a last step.
