Exactly What Are The Benefits Of Same Day Crowns?

There are multiple benefits to having treatment with same day crowns over traditional, laboratory-made restorations.

  • Everything is performed in a single appointment, you just have to visit the dentist one time, take one day away from your routine to have the treatment, instead of the typical two or 3 appointments.

Bridges (Dental)

A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) appliance and is an excellent way to replace missing teeth.

There are numerous types of bridges. We will discuss the very best options for your specific case. The "traditional bridge" is the most popular type and is usually made of porcelain fused to metal. These fixed bridges are most popular due to the fact that they resemble your natural teeth. This type of bridge consists of 2 crowns that go over two anchoring teeth (abutment teeth) and are connected on either side of the synthetic teeth (pontics), filling the space created by multiple missing teeth.

Dental bridges are extremely resilient and will last multiple years with correct home care; however, they might have to be replaced or re-cemented due to normal wear.

A Few Reasons For Considering Getting A Fixed Bridge:

  • Restore chewing and speaking ability.

  • Maintain facial shape.

  • Fill area of missing teeth.

  • Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position.

  • Upgrade from a detachable partial denture to a permanent dental appliance.

  • Restore your smile.

What does getting a Fixed Bridge involve?

Getting a bridge normally requires 2 or more visits. While the teeth are numb, the two anchoring teeth are prepared by eliminating a part of enamel to allow for a crown. Next, a highly accurate impression (mold) is made which will be sent to a dental laboratory where the bridge will be fabricated. In addition, a temporary bridge will be made and used for numerous weeks till your next visit.

At the second visit, your permanent bridge will be carefully checked, adjusted, and cemented to accomplish a correct fit and comfortable bite.

You will receive care instructions at the conclusion of your treatment. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new permanent bridge.

Why You Should Consider Dental Bridges?

This is an option for filling the space created by a missing tooth. It is formed to appear like the missing tooth, and it takes its place in the mouth. The sides of a bridge uses the two surrounding teeth for assistance, hence the name. A bridge replaces the missing tooth, both functionally and cosmetically. Bridge work is as much an art as it is an specific science. The materials used may be gold alloys, porcelain bonded to metal alloy, or all ceramic material. The option of material depends upon requirements for strength, wear, and/or esthetics.

It is important that a missing tooth be replaced as soon as possible for numerous reasons. If not treated the teeth surrounding the gap start to shift inward, developing an entire chain reaction of bad things. Teeth use their neighbors for assistance, and, with one missing, they begin to "fall." As this intensifies the bite changes in reaction to the pressure. This can eventually lead to problems with the whole jaw, e.g. TMJ. The surrounding teeth degrade and it is just a matter of time before they, too, are lost. Gum disease becomes a serious problem, with the difficulty of treatment increasing as the neglect continues.
