Today's Subject Will Be:

Dental Dentures

There are different kinds of dentures, however they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.

The entire mouth is examined and a determination is made about which teeth will have to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then removed. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal capability and look return and one just carries on as usual. Often implants can be used to further stabilize the dentures.

It is very important to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when as compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the type of food you are able to eat, your self-confidence in social scenarios, and even your self-esteem.

Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:

  • All Teeth missing in the same arch

  • Restore chewing ability

  • Restore a natural looking smile

  • Economical alternative to other treatments

An upper full denture will almost always feel much better than a lower full denture. In order to considerably enhance the fit of a lower complete denture, we often suggest using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants positioned in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and considerably improve comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has been in use for numerous years.
