Today's Conversation Is About:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of a lot of clients, there are multiple ways to bleach teeth. The most popular technique is utilizing a home tooth bleaching system that will whiten teeth dramatically. Because tooth lightening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the newly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use a number of techniques: custom made tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.

The tray method involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory makes into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of daily use. 3 various strengths of gel might be used, however, the greater the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is advised for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take numerous months of use to see significant color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a really quick and convenient whitening procedure. The visit is around one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients love this treatment since it is so simple and quick!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays must be utilized every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
