Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like many dental restorations, veneers might at some point need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
