Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like many dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy typically involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and beautiful veneers.
