If You Want A Dental Crown This Is Most Likely The Best Choice

Getting a crown has long been known to be a two-visit dental experience. Lots of people have no idea that this is not the case with same day crowns. For our lucky patients, getting a crown just takes one appointment!

The Old Two-Visit Way

At the first appointment, impressions are taken of the tooth and the impression is sent out to a lab so that your long-term crown can be made. Many individuals dislike the goopy impression materials that can make them gag and that takes up to five minutes in their mouth to set.

Then your tooth is shaved down so that your crown can be put on top of it. Then you get a temporary crown cemented over the shaved tooth to hold you over till your long-term crown arrives from the laboratory. Then later, you need to go back to the dentist, have the temporary crown removed and the brand-new crown placed on your tooth

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital imagery of areas needing restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to produce your crown.

Today's Topic Is About:

Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)

Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and appealing smile.

Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

As with many dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.

How Are Veneers Set?

Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct method typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is generally referred to as bonding.

The indirect technique typically involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.

You will get care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
