There are different kinds of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.
The whole mouth is analyzed and a decision is made regarding which teeth will need to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then removed. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are placed in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal functionality and look return and one just continues as usual. Often implants can be utilized to further support the dentures.
It is necessary to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when as compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the type of food you are able to eat, your confidence in social situations, as well as your self-esteem.
Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the very same arch
- Restore chewing capability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other treatments
An upper complete denture will almost always feel much better than a lower complete denture. In order to significantly enhance the fit of a lower full denture, we frequently recommend using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants positioned in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and significantly enhance comfort. Sometimes, the implants can even be placed in the jaw after a denture has been in use for a number of years.
