What's So Great About Same Day Crowns?

In a typical dental practice, getting dental crowns is a long and frequently an uncomfortable procedure that can take several weeks to complete. However, our practice uses same day crown technology, which enables us to scan, design, and mill stunning tooth-colored crowns in one day.

Imagine coming into our dental office to get a crown and walking out the same day with a strong, long lasting, and visually pleasing crown already in place. Call us today for additional information!

The Single Visit Crown Process

During your visit, you and your dentist will go over the information of the treatment and your dentist will answer any questions you might have. Your dental practitioner will then apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special 3D imaging camera to take a picture of your tooth. Using the new software, your restoration will be created according to your tooth's appropriate form and function.

Then, the mill will use diamond burs to produce your restoration out of a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital images of locations requiring restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in just one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to make your crown.

CEREC can be used for a full range of indications: anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays, partial crowns and posterior crowns.

The Topic Of The Day Is:

Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)

Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Similar to most dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last multiple years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.

How Are Veneers Applied?

Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique normally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.

The indirect method normally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.

You will get care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
