What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new innovation that a dental expert can financially restore broken teeth in a single visit using a top quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dentist uses a unique camera to take an precise image of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD innovation to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and instantly develops the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Innovation Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional second visit has been removed. This new innovation has more than a decade of medical research and documents to support it. The restorations have been proven accurate, safe and efficient.

A Gorgeous Smile!

A beautiful smile is among your biggest possessions - a reflection of happiness and good health.

Thanks to recent innovations in dentistry, getting the smile you constantly dreamed of is simpler - and faster than ever.

Today's Discussion Will Be About:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If untreated and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a terribly damaged joint.
