Two Reasons To Talk With Your Dental Practitioner Concerning Same Day Crowns

Same day crowns are a fantastic choice that makes getting a crown a lot more convenient and less time-consuming. These crowns operate in much the same way as standard crowns, other than that same-day crowns are made in the dentist's office while you are waiting, instead of being ordered from a dental lab like standard crowns.

Listed below are two reasons to speak to your dentist about the possibility of getting a same day crown:

Far more Convenient

Convenience is going to be the most significant reason that lots of people choose to opt for a same-day crown.

In the past, getting a crown would mean that you would need to pay multiple appointments to your dentist before the crown was in position, with one visit devoted to preparing your tooth and another visit to put the long-term crown over your tooth.

While that may not look like it is too time-consuming, it can often be tough to take some time off from your job or family multiple times in the space of a week or two in order to see your dentist during regular business hours.

Since the same-day crown is produced in-house by your dental practitioner, you will have the final crown fitted over the tooth before you leave from your one required crown appointment.

This is handy since you won't have to stress over irritating your employer, having your colleagues cover for you, or losing out on pay due to the fact that you had to leave in the middle of the work day numerous times to go to the dentist.

A Lot More Comfortable

Another reason to ask your dentist for a same-day crown is comfort. Same day crowns are more comfortable since you won't need to spend a week or more wearing a short-term crown while waiting for your permanent crown.

A short-term crown can frequently be a source of quite a bit of irritation and pain because it can typically become loose quickly.

When a temporary crown is loose, it can permit liquids to get under it and touch nerves in the exposed roots of your tooth. The loose fit can also cause the temporary crown to move along your gum and trigger the skin to become scratched and swollen.

While you usually do not have to have a temporary crown for long, a same-day crown can allow you to avoid any concerns associated with the temporary crown entirely.

This type of crown is going to be both a lot more comfortable and far more convenient to obtain than a traditional crown.

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital imagery of locations requiring restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in just one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to fabricate your crown.

Today's Subject Is:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a terribly damaged joint.
