If you have a fractured or damaged tooth, are experiencing discomfort when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperature levels, or wish to get rid of unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a good alternative for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface of the affected tooth, adding resilience and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we offer on a case by case basis to patients who would benefit from the procedure. They enable patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This eliminates the need to have a short-term crown placed and then another visit arranged for the placement of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new innovation that scans the mouth to get the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are very strong and resilient and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. Sometimes, a gold crown might be advised for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clinch your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the cost may vary between the two and you might want to talk about your budget too with the your dental practitioner. Your dental practitioner will discuss with you the types of crowns available and give you a suggestion based upon your specific circumstance.

Call us to arrange a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a filling because brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can cause tooth discomfort and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists offer both types of fillings, however find that a lot of their clients like the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings offer good toughness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to endure moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this might lead to a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, commonly enabling a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the entire filling process and they undergo stain and discoloration over time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend considerably on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also typically used to repair front teeth that have actually cracked or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is generally much more economical than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
