A Few Advantages Of Getting A Same Day Crown

Crowns are a very common dental procedure that is typically required when someone's tooth is broken or if the tooth has degraded to the point where a filling will not work.

Common crowns are fairly inconvenient to get, however there is an alternative. Same-day crowns are a fantastic choice due to the fact that they are more convenient and lead to less pain:

A Lot Less Painful

A standard crown can result in discomfort for a couple of factors, but one of the biggest sources of discomfort and pain is an outcome of needing to have a short-term crown.

A temporary crown is applied as a placeholder to secure your exposed tooth up until your permanent crown can be delivered to your dentist. This can take anywhere from a couple of days to a few weeks.

The problem with a short-term crown is that they are not extremely strong, which indicates that they can break or come loose very easily.

A busted or loose temporary crown will expose your tooth to liquids and food, both of which can cause quite a bit of pain if they reach the exposed nerves beneath the short-term crown.

Another source of pain comes from a loose crown rubbing along your gums. This rubbing can get to the point where it can get rather unpleasant and begin to bleed, which also opens up the course for possible infections.

Luckily, a same-day crown will supply you with a long-term crown at the end of your first appointment to the dental practitioner.

This gets rid of the requirement for a temporary crown, thus enabling you to prevent all of the pain and discomfort.

Makes Sense

A standard crown is not a very practical treatment to have performed, mainly because it normally takes at least two visits to complete.

If your temporary crown is broken or falls off, which is common, you will have to make another visit to have it replaced. This can be a huge issue if you have a hectic schedule on your hands, or if you have a job that prevents taking some time off in the middle of a busy work day.

However, a same-day crown can be finished in a single day, with a single visit. This is enabled because numerous dentists will buy the equipment to make their own crowns, instead of needing to order crowns from a dental laboratory.

This lets you avoid the trouble of needing to potentially spend weeks and several appointments to your dental practitioner before the procedure is over and done with.

Talk to your dental practitioner and inquire about the benefits offered by a same-day crown. A same-day crown can provide you with a practical and fairly pain-free alternative to a standard crown.

Today's Topic Is About:

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery might be needed to fix a terribly damaged joint.
