A Few Advantages Of Getting A Same Day Crown

Crowns are a very common dental treatment that is often needed when someone's tooth is broken or if the tooth has actually deteriorated to the point where a filling will not work.

Typical crowns are relatively inconvenient to get, but there is an alternative. Same-day crowns are a terrific choice because they are easier and lead to less discomfort:

A Lot Less Pain

A standard crown can lead to discomfort for a few factors, but among the greatest sources of discomfort and pain is an outcome of needing to use a temporary crown.

A temporary crown is used as a placeholder to safeguard your exposed tooth till your permanent crown can be delivered to your dentist. This can take anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

The issue with a short-term crown is that they are not very strong, which means that they can break or come loose extremely easily.

A damaged or loose temporary crown will expose your tooth to liquids and food, both of which can trigger quite a bit of pain if they reach the exposed nerves beneath the temporary crown.

Another source of pain originates from a loose crown rubbing along your gums. This rubbing can reach the point where it can get rather agonizing and start to bleed, which also opens up the course for possible infections.

Luckily, a same-day crown will supply you with a permanent crown at the end of your first appointment to the dentist.

This eliminates the requirement for a temporary crown, thus allowing you to avoid all the discomfort and pain.

Makes Sense

A traditional crown is not a very practical treatment to have performed, mainly since it generally takes a minimum of 2 visits to complete.

If your short-term crown is broken or falls off, which is common, you will have to make another visit to have it replaced. This can be a big problem if you have a busy schedule on your hands, or if you have a job that prevents requiring time off in the middle of a hectic work day.

Nevertheless, a same-day crown can be finished in a single day, with a single appointment. This is enabled because lots of dentists will purchase the devices to make their own crowns, rather than needing to purchase crowns from a dental lab.

This lets you avoid the inconvenience of having to possibly invest weeks and numerous visits to your dental practitioner before the procedure is over and finished with.

Speak to your dental practitioner and ask about the benefits offered by a same-day crown. A same-day crown can provide you with a convenient and fairly pain-free option to a traditional crown.

The Conversation For Today Is:

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
