Same Day Dental Crowns - A Smart Technology

We aim to stay current with the multitude of technological advances that are happening in dentistry. We are proud to have the same day crown technology in our office. It allows us to develop crowns and bigger restorations in our office. Same day crowns use the most innovative dental innovation, consisting of 3D video imaging and CAD/CAM technology. In layman's terms, it is a computer-designed restoration for your tooth. The whole procedure takes in between 1-2 hours and can be completed in one sitting.

Typically, a crown in the past would have required 2 visits. The first appointment includes preparing the tooth, taking the mold, and fitting a short-term crown. During the 2nd appointment, the temporary crown is replaced with the long-term one. With a same day crown, the whole procedure can be finished in just one appointment. We will use video imaging innovation to tke a picture of the tooth and use CAD/CAM technology to develop the crown. This 3D design is wirelessly sent to a milling machine that sculpts the restoration from a vacuum formed ceramic block. We will then adhere the new crown to your tooth. This eliminates the need to wear a short-term in addition to a second visit.

Restorative dentistry treatments can be very important to the general health of your teeth and mouth. Please call our office and request a visit.

Same Day Crowns Restorations

The Conversation Of The Day Is:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If neglected and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to repair a severely damaged joint.
