Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers might at some point require replacement; however, they are still very long lasting and will last years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy generally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
