Can Same Day Crowns Benefit Me?

With this new innovation it allows dentists to custom-craft restorations in as little as one hour. With this, we can make natural looking crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers right here in our office while you relax. Now, there is no longer a need to make multiple appointments to the dental practitioner's office to be measured and fitted with temporary restorations - you can enjoy a fantastic, natural looking, and long lasting option for your missing or broken teeth today.

Initially, your dentist will meet with you to talk about the details of the procedure. During the procedure, the dental practitioner will put a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special camera to take an image of your tooth.

Using the new software, the image functions as a map to develop your tooth's restoration. Then, it will use a diamond bur and disk-work to produce your restoration piece out of ceramic.

Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using cutting edge adhesive dentistry.

It makes your teeth stronger and more beautiful - all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free and the state-of-the-art ceramic product works with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

The Discussion Of The Day Will Be:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a filling since brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can result in tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are 2 kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists supply both kinds of fillings, however find that many of their patients like the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings supply great sturdiness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that have to endure moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this might lead to a smaller filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, often enabling a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the whole filling process and they go through stain and discoloration with time. The life span of a white filling can depend greatly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also commonly used to repair front teeth that have actually broken or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is usually much less expensive than veneers or crowns. However, bonding normally does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
