What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new innovation that a dentist can economically bring back damaged teeth in a single consultation using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an accurate picture of the broken tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD innovation to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically produces the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Technology Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer need to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the traditional 2nd appointment has actually been removed. This brand-new innovation has more than a decade of scientific research and documentation to support it. The restorations have been proven accurate, safe and reliable.

Dental Dentures

There are various types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.

The entire mouth is examined and a determination is made as to which teeth will need to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal performance and appearance return and one simply carries on as usual. Typically implants can be used to further stabilize the dentures.

It is essential to note that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a significant lifestyle change when as compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the kind of food you have the ability to eat, your self-confidence in social situations, as well as your self-confidence.

A Couple Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:

  • All Teeth missing in the same arch

  • Restore chewing capability

  • Restore a natural looking smile

  • Economical alternative to other procedures

An upper complete denture will almost always feel better than a lower complete denture. In order to drastically improve the fit of a lower full denture, we frequently suggest using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants placed in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and substantially improve comfort. Often, the implants can even be put in the jaw after a denture has actually been in use for multiple years.
