If you have a fractured or damaged tooth, are experiencing discomfort when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or wish to eliminate unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be an excellent choice for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface of the affected tooth, adding sturdiness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we offer on a case by case basis to patients who would benefit from the procedure. They allow patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their permanent dental crown in place that same day. This gets rid of the need to have a short-term crown placed then another visit scheduled for the positioning of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our brand-new innovation that scans the mouth to obtain the proper measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are very strong and durable and constructed of the highest quality porcelain available. In some cases, a gold crown might be advised for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may differ between the two and you may want to talk about your budget as well with the your dental practitioner. Your dentist will go over with you the types of crowns available and offer you a recommendation based upon your specific scenario.

Call us to set up a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery may be needed to repair a badly damaged joint.
