Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of a lot of clients, there are a number of methods to bleach teeth. The most popular technique is utilizing a home tooth bleaching system that will bleach teeth significantly. Since tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.
Most dentists use numerous techniques: custom made tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office bleaching.
The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory produces into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of daily use. 3 different strengths of gel may be used, however, the higher the strength, the greater the possibility of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is advised for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take a number of months of use to see considerable color improvement.
Our in-office treatment is a really quick and convenient lightening procedure. The visit is around one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients love this treatment due to the fact that it is so easy and quick!
Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays must be utilized every few months.
Reasons For Tooth Whitening:
- Yellow, brown stained teeth.
- Normal wear of outer tooth layer.
- Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).
- Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
