Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with many dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still very long lasting and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
