Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last years, giving you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method typically involves two appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and beautiful veneers.
