What Is So Special About Single Visit Crowns?

In a normal dental practice, receiving dental crowns is a long and often an uncomfortable process that can take multiple weeks to complete. However, our practice uses same day crown technology, which enables us to scan, design, and mill lovely tooth-colored crowns in one day.

Imagine entering our dental office to get a crown and leaving the same day with a strong, long lasting, and aesthetically pleasing crown already in place. Call us today for more information!

More About The Same Day Crown Process

During your appointment, you and your dentist will talk about the information of the procedure and your dentist will answer any questions you may have. Your dental practitioner will then use a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special 3D imaging camera to take a picture of your tooth. Using the brand-new software, your restoration will be created according to your tooth's appropriate form and function.

Then, the mill will use diamond burs to develop your restoration out of a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

Today's Topic Is:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery might be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
