Today We Will Be Discussing:

Porcelain Tooth Veneers

Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a stunning and attractive smile.

Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Just like most dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.

How Are Veneers Applied?

Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct method usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.

The indirect technique typically involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
