Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
