Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like a lot of dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method generally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy typically involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and beautiful veneers.
