What Are The Benefits Of Same Day Crowns?

There are numerous benefits to having treatment with same day crowns over traditional, laboratory-made restorations.

  • Everything is carried out in a single appointment, you just have to visit the dentist one time, take one day away from your life to have the procedure, instead of the typical two or three appointments.

  • Only one anesthetic injections, because the entire treatment can be carried out within an hour you only have to have one injection.

  • Your dentist remains in complete control of the outcome, because the crown or inlay are designed and produced from start to finish by your dentist, they have overall control over how it will fit and look.

The Topic Of The Day Is:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is required when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and discover issues early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also cause the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal therapy. When this occurs, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it needs to be treated, and can not heal by itself. It can even damage the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and may be extremely uncomfortable. Symptoms that the pulp has actually ended up being infected may include sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, pain, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no signs are apparent and the individual is unaware of any problem until a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and decontaminate the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. As soon as the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Usually a core build-up and crown is recommended for restoring a tooth that has had root canal therapy.
